    Kit scale difference

Ok I'm doing the Italeri 1/35 Demag D7 with flak, so I got the Tamiya 1/35 German flak crew to go with it.

surely this isn't right I can't get there fat bums on the seats.

It does look like one of them is out of scale, I can't think it would be the Tamiya parts.

Measure the men and work out what scale height they would be. A job for Gern maybe, he does maths and things. If they turn out to be 7 foot 4, you've found your problem.

How tall is the standing figure and how long is the Demag overall Ian?

Assuming the average height is 5ft 10inches, the figure should be about 51mm tall (without helmet). The Demag was 4750mm long which should scale out at about 136mm. It certainly looks like something's not right.

Tamiya figures tended to be on the small size, (like Japanese people) but then they upped their size to European sizes... they must have got hold of a German cause now they are a bit chunky!

Those are also in winter uniforms....

I find this happens to me all the time, between the 4 major brands, there is anywhere from 5mm different to them, O.o

also as Ian,said , Those are also in winter uniforms, which dose add alot of block to them, you can get away,

with not having the driver behind the wheel, 9_9

well the gunner he is a hard one, maybe take 2 or so mm of the inner leg,and ont the side which is not seen, trim back a bit harder, from the butt, down the leg, O.o

All I can say is that I have various 1/32 pilot and ground crew figures from several manufacturers and they are all different sizes. They look fine, same with same, accompanying a model, but there aren't many that can be mixed.

I have resorted in the past to removing the seat from an aircraft altogether, sitting a pilot on the floor and amputating his feet to make him fit!

                  Cheers

It seems the scales are both about right, so maybe it is just the fact that their padded uniforms are so bulky. I'd go along with what Moni says and trim them in the areas which won't show.

I think I know what the problem is! The flak crew that you have are for another flak gun than the one in your Half-track. I think they are either for the 20mm quad or even the 87/88. This might explain why the little beggars dont fit the positions.
