    RJ's Stingray avatar

Firstly, let me apologise to the whole forum and members of Scale models , i feel i have kinda let down the spirit of the website....

A few months ago i promised RJ that i would endevour to touch up his stingray logo so it could be used on a scale model of the afore mentioned submarine.

I could give a long winded excuse as to why this project has not been completed but it would sound like an excuse.

I would beg other members, if they have the software to finish the project....first guy that comes to mind is g'dubya....(photoshop GOD).

I am out of the picture for quite some time due to work commitments.

Sorry RJ.... i kept you hangin for to long.

        Howdy Guys,

Well, I am not sure what is needed, but if you will let me know, I will be more than happy to have a go at it. Is it just a resizing? remove background for use as a decal? Whatever it is, like I said I will be more than happy to have a go at it.

        Have a good day,

        Greg

Terry it is perfectly fine and i dont plan on make the sub for at least another year so if you want to hang on to it and compelte it yourself thats fine.

there is no need to appologise, first of all you didnt have to take on the task, i asked you. you could have said no. I did not give you a date to finish it by, im not paying you.....so take your time! lol

greg....yes it is removing the background so it can be used as a decal!

if terry does want to hand this task over to you he has a partially done version..or i can send you the original and you can start from scratch. its up to you. Or you dont have to do it at all!

            Howdy RJ,

Ok, now I had some free time so I just took your avatar and opened it up in my photo program and removed the background. I saved it as a .PDD (photo deluxe file) which can be opened in any of the adobe family of photo editing software.

However, I DID NOT resize it. Its current size is 1.667" x 1.597" which is approx. 1-5/8" X 1-9/16" inches. If you need it resized, let me know (I am sure it will have to be resized for a model sub, but the question is, are you gonna do it, or me? lol).

Something you need to think about though, when making decals, you do realize that your printer does not print white ink. However, depending on the color of the sub, this might not be a problem, especially if this is from the movie "Down Periscope" with Kelsey Grammar. I believe that sub was a pale color. And, since I did leave a black outline on all the numbers and letters. which are white, so it should not be that much of an issue.

Email me and I will send the decal to you, or resize as needed. GEEDUBBYA@prodigy.net

            Have a good day,

            Greg

Below is a pic of your avatar as it is currently and beside it the decal:

looks great greg! and yes it is to do the sub from the film!

              see:

you even posted in it greg!!

i will send you the original file, it is alot bigger so it easier to edit and allows me to resize it. I dont have any adobe stuff on my computer, they are all on the downstairs pc so if you can save it as a jpg or a psp if you have it that would be great.thanks

Many thanks to G'dubya for rescuing the Stingray.
