New Airbrush user - How to's

Please refrain from slapping foreheads and grinding teeth but...

I've just picked up a new Airbrush an Iwata HP B Plus -

It's a beautiful piece of kit, feels great in the hand great balance - refined control, beautiful finish etc...But

The user manual that came with it is about as much use as:

"a very small multilingual sheet of paper folded up lots of times with very little information on it"

Someone out there must have produced something online or published something specific to iwata airbrushes helping to illustrate the functions of the device - preferably with liberal numbers of photographs and illustrations - so even a numbnut like me can figure out what a A pre-set handle is.

I'm normally better at learning "hands on" but the paperwork I got was hardly adequate regarding the complexity of the refined little tool that it came with.

    Howdy Alan,

Ok, I did a quick search here on this site for "airbrushing tutorial" which yielded the results found here: http://www.scale-models.co.uk/search.php?searchid=57751 . Now this is not specific to your particular airbrush, but maybe they will help. If not, maybe this site will be of some help: http://www.airbrushtalk.com/learn.htm , again, its not specific though to your airbrush.

Ok, so those dont work for you, lets try this one: http://www.craigcentral.com/models/ab.asp . There is even a link to the Iwata website on that last link. I am going to give you that link now, but be sure to check out that previous website for some very useful tips on airbrushes. Here is the Iwata site: http://www.iwata-medea.com/index.html They have a support link, which you might be able to use, if all else fails, for some "more user friendly" instructions from someone at the company.

WAIT, THIS JUST IN............. try Iwata's "resources" link here: http://www.iwata-medea.com/resources/index.jsp there are "how to" articles and you can sign up for a newsletter also.

I hope this helps, if you need more info, let me know and I will see what I can come up with.

    Have a good day,

    Greg

The Airbrush I purchased was an Iwata HP-B Plus. The thing that I couldn't figure out is exactly how the Cut-Away Pre Set handle works.

I know that when the airbrush is operated the needle pulls backwards and the handle can be "pre-set" to limit the paint flow.

The problem I have is the airbrush that was supplied was the type without the Cut-Away handle - I was wondering exactly how this item works and if it can be purchased as an accessory for the HP-B's without it.

There appears to be a pre-set handle but the Iwata ones I've seen for the HP-B aren't cut away, but just have a thumb-screw on the end of the handle.
