    Perhaps time for the ladies?

As we have had a bit of activity regarding the fairer sex recently I've had an idea.....

How about a ladies only build?

Wives, girlfriends whatever. I reckon it would be good fun for all concerned.

The rules could be along these lines:-

No help from anyone (Only verbal)

No cheating from the modeller other half!

    Any scale, any subject.

The kit must be purchased from the S.M. Shop

Don't know about the time scale....

Members allowed one vote at the end, but obviously can't vote for the 'other half'! Or alternatively, John can decide who gets the cookie.

A £5 M&S voucher or something similar to the winner!

All open to amendment and or removal or even total rejection!lol

    Any thoughts?

Over to you John and Ian.

    Cheers,

    Ron

I'm not sure about adding prizes to GBs (that introduces the idea of competition between members which might lead to problems - you've all seen threads about what happens in model competitions I'm sure) but otherwise I think this is a great idea!

'bout time we saw more builds from some of the female talent we have on the forum. Modelling talent that is! I mean the talent for making models!

There's about the same chance of SWMBO building a model as there is of me having a ride on the Space Shuttle!

That said it's a good idea and hopefully some will have a go.

        Cheers

Well I plucked up the courage to ask and got a look something like a dog that's just been shown a card trick!

                  I think that's a no then.

                  Cheers

Seems to be a pattern emerging here

I love her dearly (and very dear it is sometimes) but convincing her to build a model?:goodluck:

It'd likely all end in tears, mostly mine

A good idea but I think that the lads have seen the way most of the ladies will react to that one.As for the kit has to be brought from John's: Not a good idea. Prizes? Also not.a good idea.I would like to say that should you have a wife that builds, get them to join the forum and they can join in with any or all of group builds.Ian M

Let's not forget this is a scale model forum so who said it has to be a plastic kit? I'm sure there are a lot of creative other halves out there who may be just as skilled in scale modelling but in other ways. My wife for instance enjoys progressing her dolls house. I put it together and added the floors, lighting, skirtings etc and she does the curtains, rugs and bed linen etc.

We might get a better response if we simply open it up to any scale model of any kind.

Well said Richard. As it happens one of SWMBO's friends is a doll's house builder. Here's a link to one of Ruth's efforts.

                          I'm impressed.

                          Cheers

I very much applaud the sentiment of this idea but it sounds like a non-starter to me

Seriously, I can't see the point of coercing someone into doing something they have zero interest in

On the other hand if they do have some interest, as Ian says, they can happily join in with the regular GBs, any standard is welcome here and you couldn't find a friendlier bunch for some encouragement

                              Thanks for the response chaps.

From the amusing posts and other comments, and more importantly, the ladies reactions, I reckon it's a no go!! lol

The idea just lodged in my brain and I thought it would have been a nice gesture to John to buy the kits from him by way of a little thank you for his work on S.M.

I really only envisaged a one off, just for a bit of fun, not in any way a serious competition. Far from it!

It's probably just as well it didn't get going as it would have been very embarrassing to ban Scott's missus Carrie, 'cos we have seen her modelling skills and she is far too good and it would have been unfair to the other ladies!!!!

                              What say you Scott?!

                              Cheers all,
