    C 130 With Tiger Stripes?

    Howdy guys,

I was thinking about RJ's Fighting Falcon model and its stripes. I have an airfix 1:72 scale C 130 that I am about to build and wonder if you have ever heard of or seen a C130 with tiger stripes.....not the "jungle" camo called "tiger stripe" but more like the tiger meet stripes in yellow orange black and white or just black and white or black on gray?

Anyway, I was foolin round with my photo editing program, took a photo of a real tiger skin, made it black and white, then transparent and overlaid it on a line drawing of a C130 to get an idea of what it might look like.

please let me know what you think of the idea. remember the pics below are just the initial drawings.

    Have a good day,

    Greg

i think it could look quite good! even if there never was an aircraft painted up like this. you really make it look like a tiger...yellowish orange on top with the black stripes and white undernieth! maybe letting a few of the stipes go over onto the white?

    just an idea!

      Howdy RJ,

That was one of the color schemes I had in mind, black stripes, orange top fading to a golden yellow then white underneath with the stripes fading off into the white from the top. Basically the same color scheme as a real tiger.

The other ideas were a "snow tiger" or "Siberian tiger" version....black and white, or a dark gray with black stripes with a light gray underbelly on the plane. I have a few different "tiger heads" that I could put on the tail. One black and white, which I could also make black and gray, and two or three in the real tiger color scheme.

I have the materials to make my own decals so that is not an issue. I have plenty of decal paper and plenty of "fixitive" for them once printed.

I am gonna play around with the idea some more and see what might look best.

      Have a good day,

      Greg

        Howdy again guys,

Ok, I really wanted a better Idea of what this bird would look like with tiger stripes, so, I found a photo of a gray C130 online, and took it to my "photo editing program and "played" with it abit.

Below you will find the original photo of the C130 and the second photo is the "altered" version that I did in my photo editing program. I think the plane would look good with tiger stripes....I would just hate to have to be the person to have to paint them on the real plane.

Lemme hear what ya'll think about this model being done in this scheme.

        have a good day,

        Greg

If it was in black and white wouldn't it be Zebra stripes?

Maybe you could get Tiger to scan a pair of his underwear and make a Leopard Skin pattern from them! Bearing in mind you would have to repeat the pattern as a pair of his wouldn't cover a good sized 1/72nd model aircraft.

          :emo:

Sorry Greg, being more serious, the photo manipulation is, as always, very clever and a similar effect to the Tiger Meet aircraft would look quite spectacular on a plane this size. It would be pretty feasible for a plane of this type to be a support aircraft and be decked out in similar colour schemes. Go for it, I am sure it will look superb.

Can't wait for the photo on the drive!!!
