    Revell kits??????

I have almost completed my present build, a 1/35 Leoprd by Tamiya. The kits went together well with no dramas. Next on the bench is HMS Duke Of York by Revell. I have never built a Revell kit. Does anyone know of any pitfalls I may encounter with Revell or are they generally ok?

Never come across any problems with Revell kits, although saying that, the majority of Revell kits I have built are normally re-box's of Dragon and ICM kits, especially in 1:35 scale.

I'd say that it's almost impossible to judge one manufacturer on the quality of their kits. Some are great, some not so much, especially when it comes to different types of kit.

For instance, Trumpeter make some excellent armour & aircraft kits, but their ships have a reputation for not being quite up to scratch.

Much depends on the age of the kit PJ - the older it is, the more likely you'll find flash, poorly moulded parts & ejector pin marks.

always find revell to be a bit hit and miss, and not just depending on if its a revell usa or revell germany,...good ones are normally very good

which scale duke of york are you doing?

I like Revell kits but as prev mentioned some are reboxed items. I tried to build their 1/48 me109G2 I think ( desert camo but found the kit wanting and looked like an icm kit. Paint ref can bf better too imho
It's still in my stash away somewhere.

                Regards

Like the guys have said, Revell can be very much hit and miss. Their new releases are generally very good, but Revell have been in business for a LONG time - I'd guess they're still putting out kits produced with some very old and worn moulds.

I have just had a look at the box and it is 1/700. It is a German one and there is a year on the box = 2011.

Generally speaking I find the fit on revell kits is very good, the detail and accuracy on the other hand is very hit and miss.

From what I've read, it's a re-box of an 80s Matchbox kit. There's a few online reviews & most agree it's a reasonable kit with few errors.
