Using a PC to print decals

I know there are a range of special decal papers and transfer papers for making your own graphics for models.

This has probably been asked previously - but is there any way white decals can be produced - ideally dry transfers?

Obviously inkjets leave the white paper for the white areas, I just wondered if there was a specialist paper which could be chemically developed using uv light or something.

You should have hear the big "OH CRAP" I just exclaimed when I read this post. I just bought a kit to make my own decals and only now did I realize that white would be a problem. Thanks for saving my night, John. I am working on a model right now that I am customizing that is pretty important to me and that would have been a deal breaker. Thanks again.

I'll have to try that process out. It looks like there could be a fair chance of the results coming out slightly less than desired - seems to be a few processes involved.

I've got someone to send me some from the US. I'll see how it works out and post the results up here!

        Thanks

          Howdy Guys,

I have been making decals for a while, there is not real trouble in making "white"....the paper only comes in "clear" and "white". the small testors decal kits out now with the printer program contains one sheet of each.

I just bought $25 dollars worth of 8 x 11 decal sheets to camo a shotgun with......I bought white so I could have grays that are found in the woods showing up on the print.

Just always be sure to ask or look to see if the paper you are buying is "clear" or "white" decal paper

          have a good day,

          Greg

              Howdy RJ,

I was unaware that testors products were hard to get in the UK. Well that really messes things up lol.

Actually, the 5 Pack of 8 x 11 decal sheets I bought this time was from a company called "Vita cal". I purchased them instead of testors due to the large size.

However, "Vita cal" is made in the USA, and I am sure would be hard for ya'll to get over there in the UK.

A few ys back, the local walmart had "decal it" for sale here, it was made by the "plaid" company. It was in a bottle much like white glue comes in, and you simply printed your image on regular paper, applied "decal it" directly over the image, allowed to dry, then used it like you would a regular decal. It was a really nice product and I wish walmart had not stopped selling it.

I just now sent an email to "Plaid Enterprises" in hope of finding out where to obtain more of this product, I will let ya'll know what I find out. It is well worth the money and I would encourage everyone to try it providing I can find it again.

              Have a good day,

              Greg
