What you gents got on the go , along with my little Iraq dio I`m doing DC`s Mclaren 1998 MP4/13 test car , also got a dragon firefly on the back burner ( can`t face the poxy tracks ) , a Bradley M2A2 built no paint and a M1A1 Abrams part built.

A Bf109 G-6 from Trumpeter,though work is seriously slowing that up!

I also did my 48 Hr 1/72 build OOB of the Airfix starter kit P-47 over the weekend,with my pal Nigel (Lampie) who did a P-51. Slightly ironic as he is one of THE authorities on the P-47. No pressure then!

We were supposed to be working!

Cracking on with my Fujimi Williams FW16 San Marino although looking at that test McLaren I am starting to get the jitters already!! Looks very very nice indeed.

What would you recommend for the exhausts on the FW16 out of interest? I've stripped the chrome plating off them and am now wondering whether to go down the Alclad route (never used it before) and if so what colour(s)??

Nothing on the go at the moment, trying to get the chance to start my 1:35 tamiya M151A2 I got cheap off ebay!!!!!

Hi Rob , although I do use Alclads , for is one I just used tamiya acrylics on the exhaust , takes a little practice but being acrylic you can go over it again and again till your happy , being a pants photograher the photos don`t really show the true colours it looks a lot better to the naked eye imho , system I use is with an airbrush -

1st tamiya titanium silver

2nd tamiya clear orange and clear blue ( blend them in where you think the heat source is )

3rd tamiya titanium gold ( very lightly and I mean very lightly try and blend everything in )

4th tamiya clear smoke ( go as light or heavy as you want with this one again it will blend everything in)

it works for me mate and is a lot cheaper than getting 4-5 bottles of alclad and the ab cleaner ,

Richy C,you can clean Alclad from your airbrush with any lacquer thinners. I use the cheapo (relatively) one from Halfords. We all need to save a bob or two!

Great thanks Richy - by some fluke I have those clear paints in the box already, but wondering what's particular about "Titanium Gold" and "Titanium Silver" if anything? I have "Gold Leaf" and "Chrome" (and "Flat Aluminium" actually). Trying not to buy every single paint in the Tamiya range but failing, generally :-)

Would they substitute or are your choices specific? Cheers in advance.

I've only got the Italeri 1/48 Lysander on the go at the moment.Although i keep opening the box and fondling the sprues of a Tamiya 1/48 Heinkel HE219 night fighter!.Just ordered a Scale iAircraft Conversions metal undercarriage set for it.

Don`t see why your tamiya colours can`t work mate , if it was me I would try the chrome as a base then the clear blue & orange blend , then mix the ali with gold leaf to make a very very soft gold - lay it off very lightly and finnish of with the smoke - job done , I`m sure it will work fine Rob .

I have an 8x6 shed, love it in there, but it's surprising just how quickly you run out of room...:box:

Not building as such, just renovating some Dinky Shado 2 Mobiles, (I manage to get them really cheap), but I do them in my own colours, they're normally plain Green...

The one I'm working on at the moment is for the Desert, will post some pictures when it's done...

I've won a couple of kits on flea bay, so when they turn up I shall make a start on them...

Just did the extra dark Sea grey on a tamiya Sea Harrier. Then its decal time on that one. Not sure what the next victim will be. Maybe the Sea Vixen from Airfix or possibly even the old Airfix Mossy mk16.

I have to many I really want to build next in the stash and choosing one is a pain, so I will most likely build some thing total different!!
