Sharpes waterloo is great too! Technically not a film but still the best episode from one of my favourite TV series!

Ice cold in Alex, First war film I sat through entranced and captivated by the story as a young boy with my Dad, that one will always have a special place in my heart. To this day i'm reminded of it every time I see a pilsner glass.
Above us the waves.
Allo Allo, (I know it's not a film but it was great and Maria the little waitress, oh my)
The man who would be King, Outstanding performances from Connery and Caine.
Inglorious Basterds
Malena, (a very recently discovered one, Italian with subs, not strictly about war but set in wartime in an Italian village and concerning the titular character and what she goes through as her husband has gone away to fight, very moving and was expecting something entirely different and lighter from the synopsis.
Lord of war, (introduced to me by a friend, very interesting take on illegal arms dealing)
Behind enemy lines, (apart from the cheesy yee hah ending)Comment

Another I forgot.
The pentagon wars
An excellent slightly comedic movie but based on fact relating to the Bradley AFV and how it came to be a Tank that should never have been.Comment

One recent film I watched was "Kajaki", about a group of British paras caught in a minefield in Afghanistan and a true story - absolutely gripping. On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.Comment

Another shout for 'Ice Cold in Alex'.
'The Cruel Sea' and Das Boot' would be my nautical choices.
'Battle of Britain' and 'The Dambusters' would be my aviation choices.
On land probably 'Saving Private Ryan', though I got bored sh*tless last time I watched it the first twenty minutes made it worthwhile. 'Apocalypse Now' though that's more of a horror film than a war film, and finally 'Slaughter House 5' because I loved the book so much.
Cheers

Same here - too many to mention and must admit I am a big fan of TALKING PICTURES TV on freeview as they seem to manage to find loads of old b&w films i have never seen before.
If i was asked to name one film though it would be "Where Eagles Dare". A lot of nostalga for me because it was always a christmas film and I have fond memories of those happy family times together. And the film itself you can really feel the "Cold"Comment
