Hi all I was thinking I've got a 1299 motorcycle engine to build that is 1/4 scale which should make it a aprox 350cc engine size and yet a 50cc Raleigh run about engine is probably at least 4 times the size, could someone explain what that's all about.
Scales are weird

not really when you look at car engines a 2 litre engine is not twice the size ofa 1 litre, its only the cyliders that have more capacity but everything else does not have to increase by the same ratio. -

Engine size is the total combined bore volume for combustion and nothing else. A smaller engine still require the same size gearbox etc. You can't scale those things for a lot of reasons.
Everything else is just the same. In fact the cylinder block(s) are just a small part of the whole package whereas the crankcase, pistons, fuel injection etc are more or less the same.Comment
