    and cars are a lot more "hip" than old airoplanes to the youth of today. tamiya knew what they were doing.

      I think Airfixes stab at cars was blighted by the 1/32 scale then unfortunately they changed the box art to depict the actual model and as some of the moulds were eons old they looked a bit sad I can remember when i was a lad the box top image of the plane dogfighting or straffing sold me the kit as this fired the imagination

        I remember very well when Airfix showed their new model orientated box art to the public at an IPMS Nationals,from day one they were warned that it would not go down well with purchasers,they cut costs by doing away with famous artists like Roy Cross,but it was to their disadvantage,people hated those new look boxes,not a very good move on the part of Airfix.

        That got a lot of things right,but that was not one of them.
