    Pocket watch strap.

I used to wear a wrist watch, and for many years I wore top end Citizen Eco-drives, good quality and never failed me.

But, my disability meant that wearing metal watches and straps (tried a leather one) was beginning to hurt my wrist after a while so I took up wearing a pocket watch.

I have a couple, a 1907 gold plated admiral in a Dennison case that I wear as my posh watch with a waist coat, I also had a solid silver 1880 Fusee mechanism watch but the chain was broken and not a lot of people repair and service these types of watch nowadays.

My everyday watch is a 1956 Services Army, this is by Smiths and is the same as the American Dollar watches, I.E cheap watches. Mine has the Swiss workings but fitted in Wales so has made in England on it, a lot just say foreign. There is some wear but only on the back and the chrome has worn slightly and the brass is showing through, apart from that the dial is in excellent condition as are the blued hands, it has had a new crystal and a service and although it ticks loud, unlike my Admiral as that has 15 jewels, it keeps excellent time.

Now one problem is that you really need to keep the watch on a chain and attached to your waist coat, not practical all the time so I finally saw something that that was ideal.

Pocket watches started to slowly be phased out with the advent of the wristwatch in WWI, but they were expensive so many people still had their pocket watches, in combat gear a pocket watch wasn't ideal so a firm started to make leather wrist straps for them. These are very rare nowadays but I managed to find a company in Poland that hand makes them, not cheap though.

So, here is my pocket watch in its leather wrist strap, something unusual and it means I can now wear the watch all the time.

      Nice!
I saw some braided paracord straps for pocket watches in a surplus store in Southampton a couple of years ago.
