Where has the year and my mojo gone!

I never or very very rarely post stuff about my family or my personal life on here but today I am.
This year has flown by and taken my mojo with it. The year has been busy what with getting a new job in a field I have never worked in before and having to learn a load of new skills.
The hardest bit has been finding out that my mother has the onset of vascular dementia. As they lived over 3 hours from us and five hours from other family members it was decided with their consent that they should move closer. Where they lived was out in the sticks and they had no support network around them. Both my step sister and myself set about looking for a new home for them this was a task in it's self with all the bleeding forms and question. We eventually moved them a few months ago and since then have been helping them get settled. Thankfully my step father seems to have a grasp on the fact my mother is not going to get any better and does what he can but as this condition gets a firmer hold I do worry he will not cope so well. He is in his late 70's so no spring chicken but still drives them to the shops and appointments but does sometimes get a bit forgetful himself that is a worry for the family as a whole.
I myself have gone through a few surgical procedures over the course of the year which also takes a toll not only on the body but the ££££.
With all of the above going on I have not built or had the slightest inclination or urge to do anything remotely constructive with plastic. So as I have a bit of spare time today I thought I would give it a go. I finished the Famo for the workshop dio and have started weathering or should that be dusting off the radio truck.

Life throws cow pats every now and again but it sounds like you have had a field full. Only thing I can recommend based on personal circumstances is to make time for yourself. There is a huge temptation to go at everything at 110%. The trouble is you can burn out so easily. First rule of caring is to ensure you care for yourself or you will become unable to care for anyone else. You need to take time out to do things for yourself to keep those batteries charged or things can get grim. I know how easy it is to say this compared to doing it but please, take it from someone who has been there.

I think you are spot on Graham and it is harder to do than say especially when it is a loved one. Even when you are not with them you continully think about them and how it will affect the rest of the family. It can be that
that grinds you down as much as seeing your loved one deteriorate.

Thanks Ian but I think there is going to be a few more big bumps in the road yet.
