Just seen advertised a new documentary for this Thursday on BBC2 & BBC HD - The Spitfire: Britains Flying Past.
John Sergeant celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Spitfire. He follows the story of one Spitfire from the build in 1943, to delivery and service during WW2 and also meets the son of the pilot that flew this plane who then discovers the story of his fathers flying past. Appartently the pilot died when his son was 14 so he knows little about his dads Spitfire piloting past.
One thing that made me laugh was John Sergeant was in the flying corp when younger as a Sergeant.
So I guess you'd address him as Flight Sergeant Sergeant!! Bet he didn't get much stick for that.
Atb, Colin.
