    Thread of condolences for Nigel.d

I've been out tonight and came home to what I can only describe as a smack in the face with a brick, the news of Nigel was not something I or I'm sure his family was expecting at this time.

Ingrid, Charlotte, Rob,Ellie,Lara, Mikey please accept my deepest and sincere condolences on your loss, I'm sure there are many here that will join me when I say may he rest in peace.

    To which Nigel Replies:

Ohh I mite have known !!!

      Howdy all,

Well, to me, Nigel will always be remembered as one of the first people I met here along with RJ, John and Barry, these are the people who welcomed me and made me feel at home.

I realize that its abit late to say it now, as are most things that should be said sooner, but Thank you Nigel for making me feel at home here. And thanks to all you other members, not just the ones I named above, but all of ya'll, for making me feel at home here too.

Nigel will be sorely missed, again, my sympathies go out to Miss Charlotte and Nigels family, God Bless you all.

In the last 18 months I came to know Nigel better than most of my friends that I actually meet.

Nigel had a drive and enthusiasm way beyond most of us and a level of energy that he put into his postings that most of us will never come anywhere near.

The quality I will remember him most for though was his kindness and selflessness towards us all. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him and he was always looking for ways to recognise others for thier efforts on this forum. Making a model to auction off and pass on the proceeds to John was simply a typical kindness that only Nigel could think of. Charlotte you should buy a very nice glass case for that model and treasure it for the rest of your life.

I have never known someone that I have not actually met have such an impact and an influence on my life and this forum is going to be a far poorer community for not having his contributions in the future.

Nigel has helped to guide me with things I wasn't sure about, engaged me in arguments that made me think more about what I was doing and enriched my experiences more than anyone I can remember.

I still find the loss so very difficult to come to terms with so if that is from someone who didn't meet him I can only begin to imagine what a loss he must be to his family and the people who knew him.

        Nigel I miss you dearly.

with 8 guns it felled those huns and our stuggles were not in vain.

i wish i could think of a word that rhymes with hurricane!

          -----------------------------

A poem for Nigel as we knew him.

Now Nigel was a super chap,

But sometimes his ideas got him in such a flap !

              His modelling skills did abound,

Especially if there was an airbrush around,

Luftwaffe types he did so love,

              His models hanging from above,

As a member of Scale-Models.com,he freely offered his advice to everyone,

From type of paint to how to make it fit,he knew just about every kit.

As a manager of a shop at Argos,he would speak to anyone from the shop cleaner to Mr Marcos,

With a heart of gold to his fellow man,he was known to have given away kits from a 109 to a Lotus Elan,

One thing is for sure that he made his presence here,to which we will always hold him dear,

There never will be anyone quite like Nigel with such unusual flare, and boy oh boy he certainly did care.

So if you see a Tiger Tank come down from heaven,

Even maybe an Heinkel one eleven !

No doubt it will be Nigel in a tizz to bring us yet another quiz !

To Nigels Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I had only a few words with Nigel, and now i had finished my tank, I was looking forward to meeting him at Cosford.

To his Family and Friends, please except our deepest sympathies.

                God Bless you.

                Michael & Tracey Fletcher.

Not much else that I can say that I haven't said in my other post. Looking at the pics of Nige's models.. I am still in love with the one of the USS New Jersey. There isn't a time that I am in Philly going to a game or something that I don't see the USS New Jersey that I don't think of that model that Nigel built. Again, I am honored for being able to know of him as much as I did. I know that I am not as fortunate as the rest of those on here who got to know him far better than I. But I will miss him as much.

I think we are all going to miss Nigel, He was very much part of these Forums in the short time he had been here, having said that he had some superb models and skills which he shared with us all on here....we have seen those through the tutorials and pics/videos that he has posted of his own stuff and more importantly getting Charlotte involved too, we don't see many female modellers these days but Charlotte is one in a million and no doubt owes a lot to her Dad Nigel for getting her involved.

I do hope Charlotte continues in the Hobby and of course on here too as I am sure Nigel would be proud.

Nigel may have gone, but his posts and wisdom and skills will live on here on Scale Models....and through Charlotte too of course !!!

Charlotte, Get that C5-A done now and dedicate it to your Dad......I am sure he would be proud.

                            R.I.P. Nigel.

                            Regards.....Mark.
