    Suffering from builders block.....

I've been away a lot this year (trip to iraq) and although i'm having plenty of spare time I just can't seem to muster up any enthusiasm for modelling at the moment. SIGH......

Does anyone else suffer from this ?

I'm intending to make a big push over the xmas period 2 finish at least 2 projects before January 07.

Just finding it hard at the moment. maybe there is a recognised condtion for this.

I think it happens to us all at some time or another. A lot of us get out of it when family takes over and don't get back into it until later life.

Long term projects always tend to become a bit of a challenge as the end never seems to be anywhere in sight which is why I built a plastic kit in the middle of my steam coaster model.

I am sure that once you start again all the original enthusiasm that you had when you started the model will come flooding back and you will immediately start to enjoy it once more.

I work away from home for three months at a time and my problem is trying to remember how I did something at the beginning of the model that I want to repeat again later.

Very good points there Richard....Like I was saying in my other thread -that Mirage III hasn't changed it's appearance in years!!!! Also about the tons of semi-built models waiting for paint jobs/touch ups etc...!!! I must have about 10+ in various stages, including but not limited to: -

Aoshima MGB club racing version 1/24

      Italeri F-19 1/48

      Italeri TOW Humvee 1/35

      Tamiya 6x6 GMC truck 1/35

      Heller A10 deny flight 1/72

      A-36 Apache 1/72

      Hobbycraft Lavochkin LA-5 1/48

and some others I cant remember offhand.

But when you did get "the bug" again it hit me hard and I now cannot wait to get stuck in about them again and I've made a promise to myself not to start any of my new ones til I've polished off all the others!!!

Stuart that is the way forward, consolidate what you have already started,we all have unfinished projects of some kind, but try and touch a few up,once you get into the swing of things then you are away.

I will get that way for a few days when I don't want to touch a model. I have only been back into it for about 6 months after about 20 years away. I use model building to relax so I don't let it get to a point that I pressure myself. I do have some models that I NEED to get done by Christmas for people so that is a little stressful. Other than that, this is supposed to be fun and all and if you don't feel like doing it, then don't.
