Now about this tag picture quiz PLEASE READ!

Right no easy way around this one.
I AM FEED UP WITH MESSAGES ABOUT THIS THREAD.
So I thought we should get the elephant out of the room.
This poll will hopefully get a broader prospective of how you the members feel about it.
Why the options I have given? They are the consolidated version of the messages I have received.

I will repeat my question of last time this came up: why do people care about a thread they’re not interested in? You don’t need to read it if you don’t want to.

(Also, your poll answers show bias, making this poll potentially unrepresentative and/or influenced.)

The second option is disingenuous. If the quiz thread breaks copyright (which it doesnt by the way because the images are used for education not profit, see my previous post on this issue) then the “latest acquisitions” thread certainly does and should also be shut down. Each post in that thread has a copy of box art, which is subject to copyright, and the images are used for no other purpose than to feed a vicarious plastic addiction. The only aspect of life illustrated by that particular thread is narcissism, showing that money is easier to spend than time.
To be absolutely honest, if there are so many members on here that are narrow minded enough to want to curtail the obvious fun that some of us get from this thread, then I am not sure that this is really a community that I want to belong to.

how can the answers be biased?...theres a yes, a no, and two no's but do it this way............if anything its biased towards keeping it!

for my twopennuth i rarely go in the thread any more simply cos its getting so obscure i have no chance :smiling6:......but if its somewhere that keeps people entertained without it spilling over into the rest of the forum, and dosnt break any rules or legalities then i dont see a problem

id also like to mention that this isnt a democracy...people dont get to vote on things....the site is owned by someone who can do with it exactly as he pleases.....and Ian as head mod is his representative, so dont shoot the messenger!

I wasn't aware that there was any elephant in the room. The nature of any complaints made would be helpful however.
Most subjects posted in the quiz thread are relevant to modelling in it's wider aspects though granted some are rather obscure.I find it interesting, fun and ,dare I say, educational.
Tim has hopefully dealt with the question of copyright and as far as I'm concerned as long as posts are not racist, sexist etc. or offensive in any way there's no reason I can see to close this thread.
              Jon.

Well if that is the case, considering that the questions are derived from the messages I have received, then I would say that they are representative and yes influenced... by the members that have moaned about it.

There is a thin line between education and entertainment, this one is very thin. The Latest Acquisitions and Finds on the internet are also borderline but when is a company going to complain about free advertising?
Also taggig a picture "for discussion purposes only" does not waiver the copywrite. in fact it only attracts attention to the fact that the poster of it knows that it might be a bit iffy so is trying to cover their backs.
As for your last comment, Well you know what to do about that. Sorry I have had enough of Its them or me ultimatums.

I don't normally let forum politics into my life, but I am really very surprised to read that people are complaining about a thread, that you DON'T have to read. I think I've looked at it three times and never commented. But it does absolutely no harm.

                      It’s all a bit schoolyard!
I’m surprised that grown men would spend there time complaining about a thread that does not have to be looked at.

                            Morning all.
Going to throw my thoughts into the ring.
As fun it may be to those regular participants it is not about scale modelling is it and maybe this is why there are complaints.
I have only commented once and looked in a couple of times and made a banter type remark.

As to the copyright issue, I've looked at copyright issues on the internet, as long as its not for profit and for education then its appears to be acceptable. Just edited this as it seems we are all contraviening copy right law by using even free to use stuff. A very grey area, to which unless you are a legal specialist able to understand stand the complexities of corpright law .
Dave Wards blog using art work on internet releases is great, I find this far more interesting and of benefit.
Remember this forum is about model making. :smiling2::smiling2::smiling2:
Enjoy your day even if it's wet !
                            John.

                              Quote from Moderator Ian:
“As for your last comment, Well you know what to do about that. Sorry I have had enough of Its them or me ultimatums”

Sorry about my last comment Ian, but I personally have had enough of gutless keyboard warriors hiding anonymously and throwing inaccurate and unfounded accusations around. If you are interested, though I suspect you are not because you are supporting this behaviour, it is actually called passive aggression and is a particularly cowardly form of bullying.
I am going to take a break at this point and see what other options are around, so I may well not post again. This is not an ultimatum, simply fact by the way. However, before I do, I would like to know if any of these complainants actually contribute to the forum or is this just your convoluted way of shutting down a thread that you simply do not like!
