Short Fuse?

Howdy Guys,

Ok, with the "Peashooter" being the last model I completed (last weekend), I sat down and resolved to complete another new aquisition.....Italeri's 1:48th scale CR. 42 "Falco" Biplane.

However, as usual, something always seems to get in the way of me being able to spend a nice quiet day home building a model. These little "intrusions" into my "personal time" often cause me to become abit "testy"....irratable and sometimes even downright "unpleasant" to be around.

Now I pride myself on "being never anything less than pleasant" but I must admit that when I am interrupted while constructing a model, its almost as if I have quit smoking and taken up drinking large amounts of coffee (and not the decaffinated stuff.....I tend to get on edge).

Now whether this behavior is due to intense concentration, tunnel vision, or whatever, my question is this:

Have any of you, or you family members ever noticed you becoming abit edgy, testy or having a "short fuse" while you build your models?

Dont get me wrong, I dont "kick the dog" or even put holes in walls, I guess mine is abit more "internally directed", I would surmize it by saying that I get frustrated at interruptions.....how about ya'll?

Anyway, now that I have admitted this flaw of mine, ya'll dont leave me out here hanging all by myself, if you sometimes have the aforementioned problem, let me know so I know I am not the only person that is "wound too tightly" lol.

Yup, It's all to do with having your selfish train of thought broken by someone who does not even know what a servo is and certainly does not care that you can't fit it in the way you want to while keeping the battery in the best spot to maintain the centre of gravity where you want it.

and why is it when you need an hour of 'quiet' uninterupted peace to get a difficult model stage complete then the wife or kids always want your attention urgently ?

even up in my workshop at the end of the garden is not safe or sacred anymore, i went in at the weekend to find my wife had left loads of bits of timber all over my machines along with polish and wax and stuff ....( she is a cabinetmaker/ furniture restorer and french polisher).....AAAAHHHHH

I think maybe this could have something to do with being a perfectionist maybe? Could it be your so intent on getting it "right" that it winds you up?

Maybe try and grab a cheap £1.99 kitech kit or something and just wacking it out for a laugh, not worrying about mistakes etc and see if your far less stressed, then maybe your on route to the problem?

If I made a mess with a 1.99 kit I would still be dissapointed. I think it's that striving for the best that makes us want to create our models.

I think you are right with the perfectionist bit though.
