A Seasons Greeting to All, and Best Wishes for The Coming New Year.
I haven't celebrated Christmas for many years, and I tend to batten down the hatches halfway through December - it gives me a nice quiet period to really relax!

Thank you Ron, last but no least on your list :smiling2:
Hope you all have a Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
          I'm also celebrating .
Midwinter, Yule or the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere occurs on Dec 21, 2018 at 5:23 PM EST. It’s officially the first day of winter and at this time, the hours of daylight and darkness are equal.

At this important festival on the Wheel of the Year, Wiccans celebrate the return of more daylight. Traditional ritual themes include the Oak King, symbolic of daylight hours, vanquishing the Holly King, symbolic of hours of darkness. Ceremonies and spells promoting personal alchemy are also traditional.
Meaning starting to get lighter in the evenings from tomorrow, thank goodness.:smiling3:

          John.

            John,
ummm no, it's the shortest period of daylight! Here, sunrise 08:13, sunset 16:01 - 7 hrs 48mins of daylight. The equinox is the equal daylight/night!

Short daylight doesn't bother us Asians...we still work regular 12hours a day and even through holidays if money or livelyhood is at stake. Gotta lighten up a little. :unamused:

                Cheers,
                Richard

I'll try to be more active on here next year. (Hopefully it will be quieter and I can have a bit of spare time and energy!)

                          Richard,
An odd thing for the higher latitude dwellers is the standard length of day for those near the equator. Singapore is almost on the equator - the longest day of the year is 12:04 long and the shortest day is 11:55 long! Every day an equinox ( almost ) The sun sises at around 7:00, and sets at 1900 (ish). You also get fast sunrises & sunsets. I used to visit Singapore quite a bit in a previous career - an amazing place
                          Dave
