I got quite worried as to how he was going to exit the Pilatus Porter ! he sort of slid out sideways with those bulky wings, the engines look like model gas turbines.

For sheer thrill that device must take some beating, imagine testing it out for the very first time ? quite an heavy wing loading as well.

well i know its actually 4 engines but hell, it must be risky hanging off a wing hoping those units fire up !

Ritz, welcome to the forum. Normally I come in via the forum index and go from there. New members often go to "How did you find us" in the chit-chat and introduce themselves.

Hope you find something to interest you and it will be nice to share with you.

The wing also holds the fuel tanks, the power to weight ratio must be very high, but look it flies, surely this must be one of the most exhilarating forms of flight known to man ?

It is like something out of a Bond movie.

Im not sure about how high the power to weight would have to be because once your airbourne theres all sorts of thermals and other factors that come into play? It would surprise me if its lower than we imagine!

They are now thinking about a formation team of these aerial devices !! spectacular to say the least.

Thanks to NTT for that Link,

Awesome Video, I did see something similar on somewhere like YouTube a while ago but not quite as spectacular as this though. I think the other one was just a glide using a similar sort of wing but no engines and then opening the parachute when the altitude was too low to continue the glide. Bet that is a real thrill to do.

And to Ritz, Welcome onboard and I hope you enjoy yourself on here whatever sort of models you do. We have the whole hobby pretty much covered here so feel free to ask away if you are stuck and get some pics of your models up to share with us. We don't bite...!!

                      Regards.......Mark.
