Hi Chris
PDF stands for "portable document format". It was introduced to ease the sharing of documents between computers and across operating system platforms when you need to save files that cannot be modified but still need to be easily shared and printed. Today almost everyone has a version of Adobe Reader or other program on their computer that can read a PDF file.

If you don’t have a PDF reader on your Windows computer, Foxit Reader is apparently one of the best ones currently available; Adobe Reader isn’t really to be recommended, as it’s become ever more bloated. You can download it here. (Mac users don’t need any extra software: the Preview application that’s standard on all Macs opens PDFs just fine.)Comment

The simple form: PDF is a type of file that, on a Windows PC, you can only view if you first install a program that can read this type of file. “Foxit Reader” and “Adobe Reader” are some of the more popular programs that you can use to read PDF files with.Comment

I use iAnnotate on my ipad Which allows me to annotate the pdf documents with text or colours as well as having the ability to search within a document. I use it both for work and for modelling reference material.Comment

I checked; it sort of does, by using Edge, but you can still download the Microsoft PDF Reader. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2975...headaches.html
