Help! Seems everyone knows how to do it..... but me!!!

    Hi all,

Can anyone post in simple 'Idiot proof A.B.C.' how I do the following? :-

    A) If required, post pictures larger than I usually do on S.M., which is always small VGA size for emailing.

    B) I notice when people post pictures they sometimes include the typed word between the images....How is this done please?

I can see the raised eyebrows, but please understand I'm a bit of a 'Tech. Loon', so any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Ron

Right then note book at the ready?

The larger images that appear in the body of the posts are normally loaded from a picture server such as Photobucket or Picasa. Once the pictures are up-loaded to that you just copy a link for the image from there and put the link in the post. When the post is opened, the link opened and the picture shows with out further ado! Smart

    As for text between the pictures;

click on the "Go advanced" box and start writing your message in the box. If you are using the normal method of forum picture up-load do that and get all the pictures that you need for the post into the manage attachments window. click on insert in-line. The pictures will then load into the text area of the message.

Now the fun starts. Click on the picture to highlight it then drag it to where you want it.

I normally start the post import all the pictures and then start on the text and move the photos around.

You can see how it will look in the forum by clicking the Preview post button. If you are happy send reply. if not go back and move things about and have another look.

Takes a bit of to-and-froing at first but it gets easier the more you do it.

    Hope that helps a bit.

If anyones got a photoBUCKET ,its got to be ron!!!!. I was wondering about this too, but i dont think ive got either of those things on my computer, is there any other way of making bigger pics ?. Another thing ive noticed is that when you click on the thumbnail image on my posts it doesnt always open it,is it something im doing wrong? ( i usually resize my pics to desktop resolution, could this be the problem) Sorry to hijack your thread ron but i thought while all the clever people were looking i'd get a question in, !!!you see im like yourself , not tech minded at all!! , cheers tony

Good job you mentioned ***** bucket mate, I will shove one in the 'Sniper' G.B.

No probs. hijacking Tony. The more info. on this subject the better for loads of people like us!

I was kind'a hoping I could do this sort of thing directly from my camera/computer. Reason being, I keep sites on my computer down to the bare minimum...and Photobucket and the like is way down the list of 'must haves'.

Daft, I suppose, but I'm a bit paranoid over such things.....

Top marks to Ian though for his help.

          Cheers,

          Ron

Photobucket is just a website and there is nowt installed on your PC. You go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket open an account which is free up-load a couple of photos and then you can even make different albums, one for Personal photos, family and the like. Then as many others as you see fit. Last time I looked I had about 8!!!

When you want to post a picture in a forum, open Photobucket in your browser, find the pictures you want to up-load click on the link called and the link is copied go to the post you want it in and insert (ctrl + V) and Robert is your mothers brother.

The bonus is if your PC goes tits up, all your pictures are safe and sound on their servers

When I post pics, I click on the image link, it then gives an option to add image from comuter or url. I click from computer, then select libraries, then pictures, then select the file with the pictures in. Just remember to upload your pics from the camera to your computer first. No photo server required, all done from your computer, and when you click on the thumbnails you then get the enlarged version. Hope you can understand this, and it helps!!!!

                Cheers, Andrew

Andrew, He was wanting to know how to get the larger pictures in the post, and not have the thumb nails.
