    A belated hello!

    Hi,

I thought it about time that I finally got around to saying hello, having joined this forum over a year ago. Some of you may recognise my name and I certainly recognise some of the members here. My name is Dave Coventry and I live in Southsea, UK. I am 48 years old and returned to model-making in 2004 after an absence of 25 years. The Royal Navy, marriage and kids were responsible for that absence and following an early retirement from work in 2001, it was just a matter of time before I resumed the hobby. My interests include modelling (of course), sports (watching only) and British comedies. I have a couple of websites dedicated to Britcoms that I have run for about eight years now. In addition to these websites, I also own The Airfix Tribute Forum which I set up last April.

My main modelling interest is in British warships (surprise, surprise) although I will turn my hand at making most things. I make models straight out of the box, heavily converted or scratch-built. My long-term modelling ambitions are two-fold. Firstly to reduce the number of part-made kits to nothing. Secondly, build the kits in my stash faster than it is growing. Thirdly, to scratch-build 1/200 HMS Antrim (DLG). I'm not sure if the first two will ever be realised but I live in the hope that the third one will!

    Dave

Hi Dave and a very warm welcome to the forum. This is a pretty diverse bunch so there is something for everyone and one of the strongest points is the sharing of ideas across the differrent aspects of modelling from card to plastics to boats and to planes with everything in between.

I look forward to seeing your models come together and, rest assured you are not the only one with a substantial retirement fund stashed in the attic!!
