    The one and only negative.....

I have just found out the only negative thing about the present Mrs. Ron and I's decision to do without the T.V.......

The last live t.v. we watched a couple of years ago (I did, a bit!) was Strictly Come Dancing.

Number one son turned up an hour ago with a D.V.D. just for his mum....What is it? Yes, this same 'Strictly' with extras!

Worse still, while I've escaped into the 'loft', she is down stairs watching it on MY big, bad Sony 5-1 surround sound system, even as I type this!!

May I have a sympathy vote please?

    Ron

Nope! Sorry Ron, but I wouldn't consider that to be suffering. Try sitting down every night with earphones on trying to drown out ALL the soaps!

If you have made the commitment to do without the house alter, why do you have a big bad sony 5-1 surround system in the living room????

Surely a 12" B/W portable will do just as well to not watch.....

Oh that would be a no vote from me. last time I was allowed to touch the remote to the TV was to change the batteries.

Not much sympathy from you lot then! And I thought we was mates and all.....

Ian, we still have the box, we use it to watch music D.V.D's and films...the louder the better, hence the 5-1 (only one neighbour and she's a quarter of a mile away, 85 and stone deaf, bless!)

Hang on, I can't hear Sir Brucie, I'm off to make a brew......

Oh, forgot..I also use it for the PS3 when I'm a'gaming or when we watch Blu-Ray pickies.

oh god, i wish my neighbour was that far away, rammstein, iron maiden and the mission just sound crap at low volume level.,and if i put earphones in the telly they crackle when i turn them up.my neighbour is probably about six feet away from my tv and i have to try and be respectfull sometimes.

Well you get my sympathy vote matey!!!!

You have no access to TV programs and someone brings round some embarrassing dancing DVD ..... family member or not, i would have inserted it in him

If, by some miracle and severe grovelling, i could get rid of the TV stations and then just watch selected films and play Gran Turismo occasionally i would.

I'm in the same boat as a few here where at 5.30 the TV clicks on and australian soap shash filters through the air ... later to be replaced by dodgy east end and yorkshire accents .... time to hit my little room under the stairs

Sorry Ron, I can't sympathise either.

From the sound of it you have a very good partner, and doesn't make you suffer, Brucie, Ant an Dec, not to mention soaps, and all the other dross that maskerades as popular TV these days.

                  Wish mine was as good.

                  Tony.

Seems to be a common theme here! If taking control of the remote is not enough its all the programmes recorded on the SKY+ box that's on the other channels to be watched later that gets me....and she wonders why I'm in the shed most nights!

Oh and its come dine with me at the Mo!

Hi Ron, me ol' mate. You've got my sympathy, i would of slashed my wrists by now if i had to sit through it mate. Mind you, i'm sat here now with Piers Morgan on the box and i'm just about to kick the TV.

Back having fun, and thanks mate you're a good'un. John

Hey John, great to see you back and up and running fella!

Judging by the replies I'm one lucky lad, 'cos it seems like I've got me a woman who thinks like a bloke (as regards t.v. that is!) and thinks the box is, or in our case was, ***p!

Anyway, nice to see you posting again mate and having fun.

                          Cheers,

                          Ron

Hey Ron, it sure looks like you started summat here! How come, all of a sudden, we're all sounding like a bunch of whinging moaners, and not our usual cheery selves? :lol

PS Welcome back from me too John.

You could be right Dave so here is the solution:-

Get one of those Wii thingies, plug it in to your nice big 50" plasma screen t.v....

Invite some dear sweet cherubs around to have a game of 'Tennis'. Make sure they don't fasten the safety wrist bands to themselves and let them loose....Result?

Within a couple of minutes the controller has gone from the childs grip and entered the T.V. screen with a resounding Flash/pop!

Great entertainment, as it was in my bestest buddies house!

                              But no tele!

                              Who Dares wins......perhaps.lol

I recommend the idea to the House....

                              Cheers all,

                              Ron
