    Battle of Britain films

We have all seen the brilliant original film ‘ The Battle of Britain ‘ with many iconic scenes both in the air and Susannah York in her undies.

I have just bought two more films based on the Battle of Britain, both about 303 Squadron and both based on the experiences of Jan Zumbach

303 Squadron and Hurricane. I was faintly aware of them before I bought them but what surprises me is how they both have the same central character over the same period. It will be interesting to see how they compare. I am planning on seeing them over the weekend.

    I will report back

Anyone else seen these two films?

    Cheers,
    Richard

          I got them from Amazon.
I assume they have subtitles, I cant look as I am at work.... If you searched on Amazon it usually tells you in the description.

303 Squadron definitely says English subtitles. I cannot find a reference on the other than to say ‘occasional’ Polish subtitles.

Well I managed to watch them both over the weekend, almost back to back.

303 Squadron is a Polish made film while Hurricane is British made.

There were some interesting contrasts regarding what each film focussed on, with the British film being more 'admiring' of the Poles and less complimentary to the British, fairly typical British self-flagelation.

Both films have some cheesy CGI but, on-balance, I think 303 Squadron was the better for aerial scenes. Indeed, 303 Squadron was, overall, the better of the two films and the one I enjoyed the most.
