The only thing I've ever sold are gaming figures I paint, anything I do make goes back into my collecting.
To sell or not to sell......

Hi Pete, when you can't even give them away, I offered a certain collection of three Toon tanks which I have just finished to someone on this forum and guess what ???
You call it nonsense I call it reality. The little boy over the road enjoyed them anyway so evryone was happy.
Pete.

Believe me built up models sell really well, there are many out there that are unable to build things but like having models to enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to purchase them.
When I split up the worlds largest model aircraft collection in 2013 I sold 16,000 models in job lots, the collection took up three shipping containers to store them, the models went all over the world as far as Russia, packing them was a pain, some are now in museums especially the hand built wooden ones so they continue to give pleasure.Comment

oop:, :cold-sweat::cold-sweat::cold-sweat::cold-sweat::cold-sweat::cold-sweat:no I didn't get your message Pete. Just checked all my messages, had one saying had I seen this, but not one offering them .
Go across the road and tell them the paint is toxic and you have to send them away. :smiling2::smiling2:.
I would have loved them, but if I missed it my fault.Comment

It's the age-old problem innit? Before you make and try to sell any product, you gotta make sure there's a market for it. (I got a great idea for a gadget to light the old gas street lights without all that messin' around with ladders. Can't see much of a market for it though so I'll not take it any further). People do buy ready-made kits - all you gotta do is find 'em!
Works the other way round too. If you wanna buy summat, you gotta find someone who's got it to sell.Comment

I think building to commission or to sell, and selling because you want the space are two different things.....
Building to sell means that you build what is marketable. It may not be what you want to do, but it is what your target demographic wants to buy....you are in the world of supply and demand....next stop the apprentice and rampant egosoop:
On the other hand, if you have a largish collection and simply want to make more space for displaying new builds, then selling must be better than binning....and if you get the price of the original kit back, then all to the good.....Comment
