I had received your email but not had chance to read it in full before work, and the reason why you couldn't post in the "News & Information" forum was because only moderators can post there, I don't mind it being posted but I have removed the name of the exhibitor.

    Dear manager (name changed)

My wife and I recently attended a large scale model rail exhibition at Warickshire Exhibition Centre, of which I have been informed by your staff that you are the manager.

The exhibition itself was impressive, however I have mobility problems and assistance is needed to enable me to attend the exhibition in the first place, either in the form of crutches or a wheelchair.

I was little dissapointed to find that I could not see some of the exhibitions as they were positioned too high, and athough I was not in a wheelchair at that time myself, those who were would not have been able to see either, let alone younger children or those that are of shorter stature.

When I politely asked one of the exhibitors if this could be altered for the next exhibit, I was rudely told that "99.9% of the people who attended the exhibition could walk in unaded, so why should people like me be here". I replied with "that it was only a suggestion".

The gentleman then said that it was his "exhibition built for himself and that he didn't want to discuss this any further". He then walked to the back of his exibition and said to his partner, "people like me shouldnt be allowed in".

Firstly I am really upset by the whole experience, I only made a polite sugestion, and to be spoken to like that was totally unjust. I do appreciate that the gentleman had prepared the exhibition, but if it was so personal why exhibit it.

Secondly I paid the same amount of money to attend the exhibition as anyone else, and to be spoken to so rudley and aggressivley that made me feel that I was being discriminated against because I have a disability is uncalled for.

I was not the only person who whitnessed this, and I was not alone in thinking that the exhibition was a little too high, nor the only one who attended with a disability. Nor am I the only person who is disgusted by the gentlemans actions.

The exhibit was NAME REMOVED TO PROTECT THE STUPID. I have reported this incident to members of your staff team, who informed me to contact yourself as they didn't want to take any action.

    Eagerly awaiting your response
If you would like to follow it up with a reply feel free.

The offender (and I mean that in the Legal sense) should be named and shamed.

Tag a very concerning message which I very much appreciate you sharing with us.

I get particularly wound up with traders/exhibitors and such who behave like this and seem to think we owe them a living. I sincerely hope the organisers deal with this effectively and the message goes out to all that this is a totally unaceptable way of dealing with suggestions such as yours.

Unfortunately my experience is usually a lack of action from such show organisers because, of course, thier income from the exibitors is significant. I am sure though that if such things are reported and openly discussed then the impact to their ticket sales may have to be considered as well.

                Keep us up to date.
