Welcome to the Forum Mr Parkes!

If its just needs to be large and a landing craft I dont thing you will find a larger one than THIS I would how ever like to point out that the price is rather large as well.

    Good luck on your search.

          Hi Mr Parkes

I don't think there is a model of a landing ship, at least I've never seen one. Ian has already pointed out the very large and very good LCT in 1/35 by Accurate armour but it's still a landing craft and not a landing ship and it's not for infantry either. The closest I could get to would be this from Milicast (which I know is still a craft and not a ship).

Milicast Model Company :: Premiere Range: Tanks, Softskins, Guns, etc., (1/76-20mm) :: British & Commonwealth :: Landing Craft :: LCI L Landing Craft Infantry (British version)(Large) (Waterline)

I've also found a Royal Navy LST here:-

LST (Landing Ship, Tank) Pictorial - custom wood ship models

From memory I think Lindburg may also do an LST in plastic. No Landing ship Infantry though.

Sorry, I know it's not much help but I wish you all the best with the search + you may have dicovered a gap in the scale model market.

          All the best

          Paul

Hi and welcome to the forum Andy.

            You have set a puzzle.

HMS Rocksand used to be SS Empire Anvil, which in turn used to be a liberty ship called Cape Argos.

The only thing similar that I could find where these,

Hannants - Plastic model kits and accessories

from Hannants, which could be used for a conversion.

Hope this is of some help.

            Tony.

not that it is any help at all, but there is an original landing craft from d-day, which is one a very few left, rotting and starting to sink in a dock not far from my house. lct7074 is its number.its a shame to see such heritage as this left in this state.

Reading Tony's reply, I would agree that this is probably the best route to take. It would be then be case of making the necessary mods - the landing craft added to the side etc. To help with this Osprey have published a number of books on Landing Craft and landing ships, LCTs, LSTs, rocket firing support craft etc, etc.

I think it would make an interesting project and if you decide to take it up I'd be very interested to see the results.

                All the best
