Good tip, but let's widen that one up to power tools like a dremel, sawblades etc :thumb2:
My dad lost his left-eye when a tooth of a sawblade broke off!...

Wearing glasses has saved me several times from serious eye damage - by flying swarf, and once from corrosive chemicals that only burnt my cheek & forehead ( the other guys ended up having their eyeballs syringed! ).
Loss of sight is the thing that really frightens me. I have suffered from retinopathy in the past, with several bouts of laser treatment, and even now I have 6 monthly check ups to check that it isn't flaring up again.
Just a moment's thought before acting could save you a whole world of hurt!

Well as you can imagine I only have one good eye, the left is so so , ok to a point but will never be completely right. Can't afford to have any problems with the right.!!!!!
I wear safety glasses for lots of things , gardening , even cooking. When modelling I have the left eye covered, and normally have an optovisor on or I'm looking through a very large magnifying lens.
I suffered a very nasty retinal detachment and was fortunate to have a very good surgeon who was able to save the eye, but the damage had been done with scarring and 3 further ops removed as much as could be archived.
Can't believe when I see people working with out eye protection when today the glasses are so cheap .

Many many years ago on this forum. A member posted a pic of his eye after a visit to A&E. The tube of super glue he was trying to open suddenly burst right into his eye.

Having seen that pic, I'm always careful. Also, I wear glasses for close up work anyway, but if I didn't, yes, I think it would be a good idea.

I call them my birth control glasses because they are so ugly, but they have saved me from eye damage many times over the years. They are bifocal RX & had cost about $300, but are nearly indestructable. I actually broke them once when they were driven into my face, hence the heavy scar in right eye socket.

Very sound advice. Sight is precious. I do wear safety glasses but admit I also forget too often. I think I have decided on my New Year Resolution for 2020.

Be careful also with hobby knife.... i dropped one in my leg... it entered it like butter...the wound was small (0.5cm) but deep (1.2cm)... fun times and blood times... i used glue to seal it fast... so YES super glue it's dangerous... but being distracted... it's worst...
