    Eye test

So I've had the day off to go for a hospital appointment later and decided I could squeeze an eye test in this morning. It's probably been around 6 years so I was really overdue. I've always been a bit short sighted so wear glasses for driving and other distance things, but close up work like reading and specifically model making has become an issue lately.

So the test went well, and my eyes are in perfect health. I even went the whole hog for a new fangled 3D scan, which showed up no problems. My regular prescription hasn't changed either, which is a good thing, but they've recommended reading glasses, with a +2.0 lens. Seems pretty strong so no wonder I've been having trouble :nerd:

I spoke to the optometrist about my hobby and the fact that I sometimes use magnifying lenses. Her recommendation was to try the readers on their own first, but use the magnifiers as well as (rather than instead of) my glasses if needed.

I have a similar issue, i get my eyes tested every two years and the prescription has not changed in all that time, but for close work like reading i need reading glass +1.25 if i have my contact lenses in and i keep a pair at +2 and +3.5 for modelling.

Silly thing is 1st thing in the morning before i put my contacts in i can read normally, just cannot see at a distance

Glad all is good, but 2.0 readers are pretty strong. I use those for 1/87 scale registration & unit # decals instead of my RX bifocals. PaulE

I thought +2 seemed strong. I use a pair of pound shop +1's at the minute and they help for most things. New ones will be ready next week so we'll see what a difference they make with quality lenses.
