How not to save the planet!

Who thought this was a good idea

For an upcoming project I placed an order with Der Sockelshop in Germany. It arrived today :tongue-out3: Nice big box - see the glasses case for size.

This came all the way from Germany by DHL. No wonder the delivery guy joked that I was the recipient of an empty box.

I'm sure there is method in the madness but it does seem perverse to me :confounded:

Hardly seems appropriate does it Jim.
I recently had a kit from Amazon, it wasn’t boxed or wrapped at all, they had just stuck the address sticker straight into the kit box! Luckily the contents was all ok.

The method is probably that they have only a few sizes of box and no padded envelopes. This is not an excuse, of course: if you know people regularly order things from your that fit into an envelope or a much smaller box than you have available, get some.

        Morn Jim,

I deal with the Sockelshop too and can only say it probably has to do with the package not getting lost during transit. A padded envelope has a much greater chance of getting lost and a small box too. Yea, it's a waste of resources unfortunately.

I just received a 10 ton trailer kit from Das Werk and they box the kit in the same size box as your average Dragon kit,

It's very sturdy and when you take off the box top of the kit, here's what's inside,

This is a total waste of packaging in my eyes and takes up a lot of room on the stash shelf too......

          Jim .
Just seen this, plenty of time to trawl the forum .:smiling3:

Si is right Amazon and Toolstation are a perfect example of this, either the box is full of ( thank goodness ) crumpled paper and in the corner the goods or in Amazon's case a 12.5 kg bag of bird seed in it's plastic sack, complete with black tape to cover the rip !
