        Paula usually sits with me when I am fishing and here is a pic of her doing the annual ladies match.She came third.

          WELL Ralph looks like you havin a lovley restfull time but don't you have tendancey to hook the trees when castin as that was my main hang up when I was fishin

            That was a good day with bbq as well.
            Yes I do still catch trees sometimes but not often.Paula was using a pole here which negates having to cast.

                  Glad you're getting back to it. Matches used be a weekly thing for me in my teens and early 20s but then tailed off for various reasons. Fortunately though I always looked after the kit and my mum kept it for me in her garage for years and so was still in perfect condition after 20+ years in storage.

                  I've taken my son a few times in the past year and he seems to enjoy it. We even had a couple of sessions as a small fishery in Dorset during the summer. At the risk of slightly hijacking your thread below is pic of a small common I manage to land on the second visit - and I only had a 1lb hook length too......

                    That is a nice catch especially on a 1lb hook length.
                    Here are a few I caught many years ago.The Ghost carp was about 14lb.
