The Trumpeter & HobbyBoss websites have both been down for almost two weeks now, their HQ is near Macau in the South of China, but no idea where they actually produce parts

Dave I was actually thinking along those lines as well, about the wrapping, might sound a bit extreme to some but it can't hurt to wash your hands using an antiseptic wash.

We lived in Hong Kong when there was a cholera out break and that was bad enough, everything had to be washed in permanganate before we could eat any fresh fruit.

Another option is to tell Mrs R that you inadvertently opened a package from China and now you will need to spend two weeks self isolation in the man cave ...... just in case you understand....

If you are that worried about the virus, spray the items with a 70% alcohol spray and leave then ten minutes. That will sanitise them. It’s how we brought kit into clean areas in pharmaceutical manufacture.....hand gel will also do a better job than hand washing.....
Great idea Tim, thank you, I have some neat alcohol that I mix down with water for normal use, but will make some up when gotta strength when the parcel arrives .

Don't get me wrong John. I've seen the kits (mostly 1/32 Hasegawa Fw190A8s) for sale at roughly £25 in both China and Japan. Rarely, if ever, find them here. But i am totally skint so getting 'additional' HMRC and PO charges just isn't an option.

Both Chinese and Japanese packages have been both speedy and arrived unadulterated by the PO or tax man, so far, touch wood.

The USA is so different, my last 3 packages have all been stopped and charged!

I stopped shopping in the USA due to ridiculous postage charges, but recently I could only get the Barracuda resin upgrades I needed direct, and even though they were reasonable with postage and labelled as toys, I still got billed £13.

The USA is off limits now, so much for the "special relationship"!

Its almost seems that we are being discouraged at both ends from shopping in the USA?

I read that as “food dip” at first and wondered if you were maybe taking things too far

I ordered up some Voyager stencils at the beginning of December. Still not arrived. Got them from Australia in the end and arrived within a week.

I think I must be lucky then, if I need stuff from the States I get it sent to relatives over there and they send it gift as it is family after all, I do the same for Australia and Germany, that's what comes from a well mixed family. China though I try to avoid the last parcel I had from there was blown up by a robot, thought it looked suspicious, it was paint cannisters, the robot now looks psychedelic, red, blue, yellow........

Good point John as some of you know I drive a truck and I work in the sea container business. Since the out break when I deliver a container that’s has came from China I am very cautious. I use to wear leather gloves now I wear thick insulated ones and try not to handle any boxes that might fall out. I also refuse to sweep out a empty container from a customer that’s been from China and I am constantly washing my hand maybe I’m over reacting but I’m not taking a chance

Quite agree with you Steve, I've had one charge from the Robbery Dept of the Royal Mail, where they wanted to charge for delivery after I'd had paid the Mafia from the Customs.
In the end I complained to Amazon as the seller hadn't said it was coming from the states, the seller agreed and on sight of my card from the PO they refunded me .
The next time I pre paid the duty at purchase, after that it was plain sailing and the cutter was still cheaper than here in the UK, where there was no stock .

Hi Lee , think your quite right to do this.

                                Thanks every one who commented.
Seeing the news reports that say China has not handled this honestly just makes people more concerned.
I if and when the parcel arrives will do as Dave and Tim suggest, and not in the house either.
                                John .
