have a nice evening you all
I too have been guilty of this sin - but not to show off. Only to try & illustrate something.
Admittedly I didn't ask the original creator of the thread - but nobody said anything about
them being detrimental or upsetting - if they had told me I would have removed them.

My work is no where near as good as most on this site!!

I have now removed the pictures that I know I posted.

    Won't bother again -

    Paul.

Just read this one, sort of a ""public information"" type post.

I really haven't finished anything much worth posting for years, but if I have offended anyone by posting in their blog, I do apologise.

I got so paranoid I checked all my post history, I need to apologise to Mr Peter Day.

It appears 90% of my posts are to you, Peter, SORRY.

I have had several PM exchanges with several members and would use that as a vehicle to explain something and add photos, as I don't want to embarrass myself with my work as it really isn't as good as most of the chaps here on the forum.

I really don't get the ""feeling"" that anyone , in any of the blogs I have read, are bragging, but I don't read everything, there is just so much to read and never enough time.

I guess if the moderators have raised it, then it needs to be nipped in the bud.

      Regards

      Steve H

As far as I am concerned, even if someone posted a picture and said, look at this, mine is way better than yours, I would not care a jot, but rules is rules, and I for one will obey them.

        Andy.

I think people are still confused about the issue here. It's the very rare instances where someone hijacks a thread by posting pictures of their own work with the intent of stealing the thunder of the thread's author.

I too, despite what I've said above, am not that bothered, but I have seen cases where the confidence of the original poster has been severely dented by the usurper.

Steve has nothing to apologise to me for. He had been incredibly supportive of my efforts over the years and I'd really miss his insightful comments. I regard him as a good friend.

Right i think we can all agree on how to go forward from this now. No need to go back through your whole history and start deleting pics.

Just be aware of the OP's thread and if they have asked for help then i personally can see no problem with posting a picture showing a work around/technique of said issue. If they have not asked for help then offer it firstly before you post a pic.

If you are just posting a pic to say 'hey look here's one of those i built earlier' then i would say don't. Send it in PM if it is that important to you.

As Peter has said above. Some OP's can have their confidence dented, especially if you do not really know the OP that well.

If one would like to share technique or other aspects of a particular build or subject with another member
including pics, then just go the PM rout and all is golden....Jim

I think people are getting too hung up on, it’s a rule, it’s not, I don’t see anywhere in Ian’s post that said it is, it’s FYI, it can be very off putting if someone posts a picture basically saying look what I did, and what is even worse that I have seen is pictures with trophies and medals in the back ground, I think most of us model for pleasure not to win plastic cups, but that doesn’t stop people posting pictures for example highlight fit problems.

I would never discourage anyone from posting but I would discourage any showing off, and this isn’t aimed at any one person, it is just a general comment.

Like all things in life a bit of sense goes a long way.

For me not worried what ever any body writes or wants to paste pictures they are welcome.

Certainly show they have taken interest in my topic. Plus in the way they want.

For me this is just life.
