Wheelchair/fishing/my Dad/King Charles Tower.

Hello my Friends.
Since last August I have had a lot of trouble with my knee(arthritis) it has got so bad that I can only walk very short distances.
Here is me fishing in my wheelchair on the canal in Chester.
On the top right of the photo you can see King Charles Tower and this is where my Dad comes in.In 1972 my Dad broke his back and for part of his rehabilitation he did a lot of work for Chester Grovesnor Museum.It was decided that the original heraldic shield would be replaced with a copy.My Dad painted the copy and it is still on the tower to this day.

Well what ever the problem you are happy Ralph & that is the spirit of life.

As we get older, now 81, we get all these things one way or another. I get up in
the morning & have to rev. up the body into a reasonable state.

By lunch it is coming on. Soup is good. Even made excellent with the pills I take. :tongue-out:

Dinner near normal even watch rubbish like Emmerdale Farm. :flushed:

& 12:00 till 2:00 my music hours for listening I am near normal. Actually my best
part of the day, or perhaps night :smiling::smiling::smiling:

So I hope you are enjoying life. You only get one. At least as far as I know.

It is great.My dad used to take me to the museum and I would get go behind the scenes to hold objects that were hundreds and thousands of years old.I guess this is why I am always fascinated about history and archaeolgy.

This might be of interest to you, see the picture of you fishing? If you were to look straight across the 'cut', there used to be old canal side warehouses there. In one of these was the building firm where I served my time as a joiner....Belt driven machinery too!

Great to read your dad left his mark on the City. Mine did too.
The Queen Hotel on City Road, down by the General Railway Station has an imposing statue of Queen Victoria above the main entrance. My late father had the job of repairing the statue. It was made of plaster and with the first tentative tap of his hammer, he knocked her head clean off! It promptly fell to the pavement and smashed to bits....
His picture was in the local paper.
So the head which now adorns the statue is a replacement - thanks to my dad.

Very interesting about being a joiner,I remember all sorts of old buildings along the canal but everything has changed so much.

Hi Ralph glad to see you're out and about and enjoying something you like doing. The middle of last year I got myself a mobility scooter and now I'm out and about when it's good weather trying to get some fresh air, it's good to have your own freedom.

I can go fishing once a week now.
The trouble is I do not have my own freedom,I have to rely on my son and wife to take me,but then again I do not go out a great deal otherwise.
