I am on an enterprise suite account though. Perhaps that’s why it’s different.
Could be Chris. I've only got the most basic set-up so I guess there could be loads of functions I don't have access to.

Gary you're a STAR!!! Downloaded Firefox, set up Bing as my search engine and sorted the options you highlighted. No more search suggestions!!!!

Still playing around with the page set-up and appearance. I'm adding bookmarks. Is there any way to show the bookmarks toolbar at the top of the page instead of the sidebar? Leaving the sidebar showing means my pages don't open in full screen the way I prefer.

Thought I'd got this sorted. Oh well, can't be right every time!

Can anyone tell me why I can't access the login and password menu in Firefox. I can't save any of my logins and passwords as I can't access the menu.

                1. have you created a firefox account ?
                2. at that point you can then enable / disable the password/username saving system

Yes I have registered an account Gary. Whatever menu I use or whatever I type about passwords or logins in their online help, they all guide me to either:

                  (i) the login page for the sites I want to save passwords for and the menu is not shown, or:

(ii) to the menu itself which is 'greyed' out and disabled. I've just searched for enable passwords and it's taken me to the same set of pages I've already seen.

Not the only issue I have with my 'puter but this one I got to sort out myself:

This is what i see on my options area for passwords.
I dont use firefox to remember mine , i use dashlane , BUT , a click on the ''ask to save logins and passwords'' allows me to switch to firefox to store passwords.

That's the menu that is all greyed out on my 'puter Gary - including the first line so I can't set the other options. I get that whichever way I try to access it.

PS Forgot to say, that's Clyde. He's sitting over my keyboard as I type this!

Would it help if I mentioned that all my searches are automatically done in private browsing despite the fact I've not specified it?

ah , private browsing will knock off many of the settings, as the private settings shouldn't save history etc.

Not sure how you managed private by default ??

Private browsing mode doesn't offer complete privacy, but it does prevent your browser from saving your history, searches, cookies, and other private data between browsing sessions.
