I do not mind the heat as a rule but it warms up my loft to unbearable temps so I get no building done.

We here too are having a rather hot and muggy summer, but central air conditioning keeps the whole house nice and frosty
vehicles all have a.c. and even though working in the woods, they are for the most part shady and cool.

Outdoor humidity levels can be a pain for me with my COPD and all, but I pace myself and choose my battles.
At night temps drop drastically here in the mountains so all in all things are quite tolerable, even for me.

As far as the young-uns are concerned, nothing seems to adversely affect them, whether it be sub-zero F
      or scorching heat.....ahhh..to be young...:relieved:

Indeed. After four days spannering motorcycles in what's meant to be my 'winding down to retirement' job, I'm totally knackered. It's been almost a chore to tog up and go out on road test. And what will I most likely be doing tomorrow.... tinkering with my own....

The recent run of heat has me stripping insulation from the 2 sun catching walls and roof of my shed so I can add air gaps and radiant barriers.

I can put up with the heat all day as long as I can sleep at night. Usually the fan beside my bed does the trick but this week I decided to buy an air conditioning unit from B&Q. ITS A 9000btu which meant nothing to me but it cools a large room down to a point you could put your jumper back on. Its probably a lot of money to pay (£195) for the few days we get above 25 degrees but Having used it the last few days it already feels worth it.

I feel your pain , Bob.
My eldest daughter & her 7 year-old have been living in our front room bedsit since mid Feb. She's finally got a job and found a flat but it needs a shed-load doing to it. I've been there all week putting shelves up, changing light fittings etc etc.
Fortunately she has an army of wannabe boyfriends doing the painting, so I let them :thumb2:
As John says It's what dads do isn't it.
And on Monday the father-in-law(87) moves to a new flat........
Not a lot of bench time on the horizon

sorry ,I just realised this is off topic- it IS very hot here too............

30 degrees here in the southwestern Netherlands yesterday, 34 today. Good beach weather for the tourists, I suppose, but I spent most of today watching episodes of Dark (highly recommended if you want a complex story, BTW) because it was too hot for anything else.

I’ve had an air conditioner (a proper split unit) for my bedroom for years, because I physically can’t cope with heat, but it’s been acting up lately Sometimes it works fine, most times it keeps turning itself off and back on, cooling the room by only about 2 or 3 degrees. Which is better than nothing, of course, but far from ideal when it’s much more too hot than that.

Plus Jersey Royals Potatoes are still being dug & they are superb. Just rub your thumb over the potatoe & the thin skin disappears leaving it scrapped retaining all the flavour.
Laurie - the best way to improve the flavour of Jersey potatoes is a nob of Guernsey butter !!

We hit 30 C yesterday clear sky and almost wind still. Bloody hot but survivable. Today 26-27 overcast and no wind at all. It's horrible. Sunshine is fine it's the humidity that gets me. Thankful for the AC. Even though it is only set to fan. If we put it on cooling it can cool the house quickly but the heat coming of the electric meter warms things up again.

Tut dear me Peter. Does though not know that Jersey butter is the richest butter in the world. Most use Guernsey butter for greasing the lawn mower. :smiling5:

I've done substantial work on both my daughters' houses, though one now has a fella who knows how to work a drill and wire a light fitting. It's never ending, as I also double as the maintenance man.
One grandson has what he calls his 'Pops Box' into which all the broken toys he wants fixing go. At least putting them back together can be quite good fun

I've tried tactfully suggesting that everyone doesn't descend on us at Xmas! It's a nice 'problem' to have, you are right.
