    decal diaster

    hi everyone

just had major diaster with my honda rc211v'06 done usual steps prime-paint-clearcoat-apply decals-applied final coat of clear and diaster the decals melted but only on the upper and lower fairings everything else is perfect used all tamiya products ie spray paint and clearcoat cant understand why this has happened wondered if anyone could shed some light on the problem.

    regards steve

Hi Meggsy,do you mean that the decals were 'melted' by the final clearcoat?

That seems odd! I've destroyed decals with decal softeners on a few occasions but never with a clearcoat. I don't use the Tamiya stuff so we'll have to wait for someone who does who may have an explanation.

    Cheers

    Steve

This can happen with the tamiya clear gloss TS-13 if its gone on to heavy , a lot of car and bike modellers recommend when using tamiya clear gloss you give it a couple of dust coats and let it dry in between coats that should seal and protect any decals then once dry give it a normal coat ,

You have 2 options - strip what you have and get some aftermarket decals or buy the same kit and have another go , I would do the 2nd option that way you could have 2 identical bikes - one with full bodywork and the other showing the chassis engine and all the other detail gubbings that tend to get covered up when a bike is finnished , they would look very nice displayed together - just an idea !

        hope this has helped
