The funeral of Simon John Titterington

Simon's funeral is tomorrow, Thursday 15th October, at 10.10 at Rawdon Crematorium in Leeds. Due to the current Covid restrictions those present will be limited in number. I feel certain that under different circumstances many others would have wished to be there. With this in mind Simon's sisters, Jo and Sal, have asked if, at around 10 o'clock tomorrow, his modelling friends would take a moment to think of Simon. I know we will all have memories of Simon's helpfulness, his modelling skills, his friendship and of him being such a really nice person.

    The reading will be ..
Extracts from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels

She tried not to be gloomy at funerals. People lived, and died, and were
remembered. It happened in the same way that winter followed summer.
It was not a wrong thing. There were tears of course, but they were for those
who were left. Those who had gone on did not need them.

No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away,
until the clock wound up winds down, until the wine they have made has
finished its ferment, until the crop they planted is harvested. The span of
someone’s life is only the core of their actual existence.

Don’t think of it as dying, said Death,
just think of it as leaving early to avoid the rush.

Simon's "ripples" will be the pleasure his modelling gave and the skills he so willingly shared. We are all better for knowing him.

    Thanks.
    Jim

Thanks for this Jim. The quotes seem very apt.....especially the third one.

                          Jim

Please pass on my best wishes and condolences to Jim's family on this sad day.

I lost my father when he was 50, so have some understanding of what they must be going through, albeit in our case we had the chance to say our goodbyes.
