    Anyone familiar with Metal Earth?

I came across a reference to this company -https://www.metalearth.com/ some of the models look pretty ridiculous, but others look really good, especially some of the buildings. Instead of being photo-etched, these are laser-cut stainless steel.......................
Has anybody had a go at one of these?

I’ve done a few of the star wars ones.

    If you’re looking for feedback...
The metal is different to PE. It’s tougher and harder to fold.
The instructions are ok; not always clear. Connections tend to require passing a tab through a slot and folding, which can be very fiddly.

Wife tried building R2-D2... She gave up after a day, too fiddly according to her.

I haven't tried one - for now, but I'm always looking at stuff that I haven't attempted yet! Prices seem to start at around £7 - 8. The Eiffel Tower seems to really lend itself to this style................
Got a few watched ebay auctions finishing tonight, might just have a punt, if I'm not successful!

            They’re worth trying for sure.

Well Dave, I've just had a look at their website and some of their stuff is amazing. I reckon you're just the guy to buy one and blog it for our entertainment and enlightenment :smiling5:

I’ve built their Sherman, twice (they were going to be used as trophies for a race). Not something I would recommend even if you didn’t spend money on it. Fit was okay but not outstanding, fidelity and detail are simply crap.

The first ones I had seen was the Zeppelin made by a friend years ago and then later a Tiger tank. I don't know if the ones I saw at Shizuoka are from the same makers...everything was in Japanese. :smiling6:
They are fiddly so you need really steady hands and tiny sharp nosed pliers to fold the connecting ends.

                  Cheers,
                  Richard

I think that some of the subjects that Metal Earth produce don't really lend themselves to their methods, I've looked at their tanks, and none of them look very good to me - it's more the buildings , and perhaps ships that are attracting my attention.
I'll have to ponder on this.....................

I did do the 'Tardis' from Dr Who a couple of years ago, it looked quite good when completed, I've also got the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars in a draw upstairs, I keep meaning to make a start on it but never seem to get around to it,

                          Dom,
many thanks for the offer, but I've just ordered a couple of models - not Metal Earth, but a Japanese manufacturer - a little different to the ME models............

We have stocked them for a few years, not bothering with them now as they don’t really sell, I’ve made a couple myself, they are ok but nothing to write home about, we only have one left, Star Wars snow speeder, selling less than cost if you want to try one out https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/pro...l-earth-mms268

Thanks for that, John, -I'll pass on that -Star Wars & Science fiction in general are not an area I engage in at all - in fact the only Sc-Fi model I made was for a mate's son
