    New book on Fw190

Smith and Creek's new book "Fw190 Volume One 1938-1943" was recently released.

It seems some people have been unhappy with the condition of their book, received from Amazon, and that Amazon have temporarily stopped shipping it.

I have also seen people moaning (there is no other word) about everything from the font, format, confusing layout to the quality of the paper and errors in captions. There is at least one thread over on a well known forum beginning with Hyper..... It makes depressing reading. Some people would win the lottery and complain that they now had too much money!

I received my copy about a week ago from Amazon. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The paper is fine and all the photographs well reproduced. I have read the book through, quickly, once and didn't even notice the layout or "confusing format" so there is nothing wrong with that either. There may be some errors, captional or otherwise. If there weren't it would be the first book ever published without some. I'm sure an errata sheet will turn up soon.

I have several Focke-Wulf references and the only one that is comparable to this new volume is Rodeicke's "Focke Wulf jagdfluzeug....." which is in german, difficult for me and impossible for many.

If you are interested in the Focke-Wulf aircraft of the period I would unhesitatingly recommend this new book. It is a wonderful and comprehensive reference for these aircraft. It WILL become a classic and will only become more expensive. Personally I can't wait for the next volume.

    Cheers

Sounds a cracking read Steve....I really don't understand folks who moan about such things. I reckon half the time they do it just to see their names in print or somehow think it's clever to 'pick flies.' !

Nothing to do with this book but try this for moaners.....

Me and the present Mrs. Ron went on our first ever coach trip last month to the Isle of Wight with a very well known national company.

    For £100.00 each we had:-

    Collection from Chester.

    Free ferry to the I.O.W.

    4 days in a 3* hotel

Superb breakfasts ( you could take stuff to make some buns up for lunch should you require) and 5 course evng. meals with a glass of wine.

Two free excursions. One right round the island, the other to a vineyard with free generous sampling!

Free drinks from 7.30pm 'til 10.30pm each night!! We went steady ( some were just pigs!) but due to the usual hotel prices we still billed up around £40.00 each night!

    Free entertainment, very professional.

Return trip home (Dropped off in our village)

Despite all this, punters were still moaning to the Hotel Manager about the fact that they had to queue for a few minutes at the bar and why did the bar shut 'early' at 10.30?...The t.v. had only a small screen...

We were heartily sick of these people, who were not in the minority either. What do they expect for the money!?

I 'aint bragging what we have done, that's not my style. It is just to illustrate how some people just have to moan!

Just what is the matter with people these days?

Enjoy what you have whilst you still have it!

    Ron

    (I'm felling better now too)

I see it all the time Ron. Whilst working we often have to wait to check in to hotels, many don't have rooms available until mid afternoon though most will try their best to hurry things along. The people that moan loudest about waiting for rooms are the same ones that also whinge about not having late check outs when we do get a day off! Honestly they do my head in! Any attempt at telling them that they can't have it both ways usually meets with a sullen response.

Me,I don't sit in a hotel lobby,I go and find something useful or interesting to do whilst they wait......and moan.

      Cheers
