I took the caravan down to the “Nationals” over the weekend and spent a couple of excellent days model watching and amazingly getting a suntan!
On the Sunday morning they hold a “giant swap meet”, which I wandered around not really intending to buy but then I saw a bench disc / belt sander. Now, I’d never buy from a car boot sale but in my naivety I thought that with it being modellers selling to modellers it would be OK. How wrong can you be!!
I was assured that it was in perfect working order but when I got the machine home and plugged it in the motor wouldn’t start up. By removing the sanding belt and spinning the disc by hand I got the motor running only to find that the disc wasn’t running true. All in all a complete bin job!
Well I suppose you win some lose some but in future I’ll stick to my principles and treat any “bargain” as suspicious, no matter who’s selling it.
