 Modern uniforms use a clip on tie, we used to have them when I was driving a bus before the introduction of "bandit screens".

 Probably the same idiot who thought ties were appropriate with combat suits in the 60's and 70's - four layers of material for nuclear flash protection; shirt, hairy, KF, ridiculous , - and a brown knitted 'Slim Jim' tie. By 'eck we looked sexy! Thank Heavens for Denison Smocks!Comment
