I used to go into my modelling den and wonder why the clean paint water had evaporated so quickly, then one day she jumped on my lap and did this.....

Mate, she drinks out of the bath, the shower, off the patio table, from my paint water, and out of the pond. She just doesn’t like the three bowls of water we leave around the house for her :anguished:
She used to drink from her brothers bowl as well, but he died on xmas day so we don’t put that bowl out any more:disappointed2:

My Bonnie only ever drinks straight from the tap. She waits until I go into the kitchen or bathroom, then jumps up into the sink and mews pitifully 'til I turn the tap on. On the other hand, I've had Clyde for nearly 4 years now and I've never seen him take a drink! Only the Gods - and him of course - know where he gets his drink from!

Do you feed him “wet” cat food from a tin or a satchel, rather than “dry”, crunchy food? Then that’s where he gets his water. If a cat eats just meat, it doesn’t need to drink much, or even at all.

My cat’s the same. She never drank from the bowl, so I don’t put it out anymore. She spends 90% of her time outside anyway.

I was told once that they avoid tap water because they can taste the treatments we put in it. Whatever it is, she prefers rain water collected in anything!

I spoil them both something rotten. They get both wet and dry food - Clyde doesn't eat much of the dry stuff but it's there if he wants it. They also get either cooked chicken or turkey twice a week and tuna about once a month - costs me about £14 per week. I could get quite a few kits for that over a year, but without my cats I'd be gibbering to myself - more than I already do - and blowing bubbles in my glass of milk, so it's money well spent!

Agree 100%. Ours is spoiled rotten as well. We even give our chickens warm porridge or pasta if it’s really cold.....

Agreed. They always prefer to steal food and drink rather than have it given to them, but they have to balance this against their desire to stay comfortable and the fact they're bone idle!

Ah you're all talking of cats. Now us dog owners don't have the problem. OK they will steal food from the waste bin occasionally but they do drink from their bowl :smiling2: I thought this sums up the difference ....

Read something similar onceJim........it was supposed to be cat and dog diary entries........the dog one started as “great, best day ever, just the best” and the cat one started “day ninteen hundred and seventy five of my incarceration”.....
