    Pre-made discount

An interesting one I hadn't really considered before; would people consider buying a pre-made model if it was a fraction of the price of an unmade? I never thought I would consider it, but with the diorama I have in (very slow) progress, more of a certain model would look better. An unmade version would be £50 (I have one which I have built and painted)...but on a certain auction site there is a made and painted model for a fraction of that price. Just interested to hear thoughts. I guess it could be considered the same as a vac formed building rather than made from scratch?

If it fits into your diorama, and is to the same standard - why not? The only thing may be an ethical matter - using someone else's work in you diorama! No problem if it's for your own enjoyment, but if it's for display/competition................

Personally, I've seen the 'pre-made' ones, but though they're cheaper - for me, it's more about the satisfaction of the build and being able to say "I did that, mistakes and all", but then, I only do models for my own enjoyment, and 'buying in' wouldn't 'sit right' with me.

I've often wondered who buys these because they hold no interest for me , but that's a left-field idea and I quite like it!
I will certainly consider it in future, especially if I want a wreck-it would be a perfect solution.

Hadn't thought of that angle. :thumb2:

I was always of the opinion I would never buy a 'finished' kit, as like you say, the enjoyment is in the making. However I can't afford another £50-60 for that kit just to enhance a diorama a bit more (not for any competition). It certainly wouldn't be front and centre...more 'scenery.' Still not sure whether to put a bid in or not.
