Gallery of the Month..??

Just a little idea but don't know if it will catch on or not,

How about a feature for Gallery of the Month on here, we have all seen good models on here but then again some galleries go un-noticed....How about giving them a chance to shine in the spotlight.

I can certainly recommend one now from a new member on here, r2studios. He has posted quite a few pics up of some very nice models. I only found these initially on Youtube and dropped him the link to the site here, needless to say he joined us !!

The models are superb though !! Have a look at his gallery to see for yourself.

some nice models there, some great ex BBC stuff- what a find !- and some great RC models, the stingray is nice too !

i think the idea of a gallery of the month or something is great...but dont know if john can set it up ?

maybe john ( the holy one) will shed some light on if its possible !

as for gallery of the month mark. how would it be voted? it would be quite hard. a shortlist would have to be descided and then people would have to spend hours looking through the galleries trying to decide.

i dont know, there may be an easier way of doing it.

....maybe an easier way of doing it something like that would be "model of the month" which wouldnt be too hard to do. if you wanted to submit your model one month, put it in the special thread for "model of the month" and at the end of the month a poll could be set up to decide the winnner, then for the rest of the next month a picture of their model would be on the homepage or maybe if we could scrape togeather some donations a small prize could be won?

I've looked in to this several times before to see if there is an easy option, but there isn't, it reallies on someone starting a thread with a poll, here's one I've just done so you see what it looks like, click here it doesn't look that bad, who wants to volunteer for the monthly job?

ok. so people would have to post a link to their uploaded photo in a sticky thread. only one entry per user per month?

what ever you think is best john could you please create a sticky stating the rules...etc

sounds great..... i dont even think the competative side is that important, - especially as models on this forum come in all shapes and sizes, some are static others are moving models, some are made in metals, plastics, timbers, card and such like so trying to judge like with like maybe tough....

for me just raising awareness of the models in the gallery is a benefit- i notice there are alot of images on there i have not looked at !!! plus we get to see other models and other peoples handywork...

if the thread just showed 10 different models every month it would be great, then forum members could quiz the builders on techniques, build times, and materials and stuff..... does not need to be a poll..................................

sounds like a good idea as well Guy. i guess its up to John to decide in the end how we do it. the gallery is huge. which is great. but in a way its also bad, there is so much to look through its quite easy to miss loads!

i know theres is a random gallery image on the front page every time you go on it but its easy to miss and not big enough.

hopefully this will shed light to all the hidden gems!
