    Airfix 1/48 TSR-2

Crikey! When did this kit become so hard to find??

Have scoured several different online shops/auction sites and have only just found one!

Does anyone have any info on this kit?

As far as I know, Airfix expected low demand, despite how much people requested the kit, so it's only being produced in low quantities. For the 1/72 version that came out in 2006, they predicted only 7,000 sales, and production reflected that. Not sure about the figures for the 1/48 version, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were similar.

Here's one I found on ebay whilst doing my daily bargain hunt

It went out as a limited run as they (Airfix) did not expect the huge interest it generated.

My take on it is that Airfix have yet to understand how a large portion of plastic heads think: Oh thats nice! A limited run, dude I had better buy five of them. Then there are the profiteering types that had the smart idea of buying all they could get their grubby little hands on. "I will sell them off on ebay when the shops are out and get rich" kind of thing.

I must admit to being extremely lucky and finding one in the LHS, thus saving me almost half the cost of one from Ebay! Bonus.

That one in the link above is the cheapest I have seen on there in a while, I hope you got one!!!

One thing I think model kit producers should do is have a darn god look on e.bay and just look what some of their products are selling for and how much demand there is. It could help them in determining if there are grounds for a re-release.....

Yet another one of the good examples of a kit which is all but impossible to find but the after market things such as resin and PE and the like are all over the place!!!

Oh excellent! Cheers chaps, I managed to find one on the bay of e for a reasonable 15 euros (P&P included) as the fellow had managed to tear the box lid. Have a written guarantee that all parts, decals, instructions and everything else are perfectly new and plastic still in their bags!

It's really silly, seems Airfix should do another run of this kit to me!

Oooo aftermarket! What sets would you recommend??
