    Not 100% sure Paul, but I think it might be an “eyed” hawk moth with its wings closed up.

      Closest I can say, it's a moth - possibly one of the hawk family?

        I don't know Paul.......I'd call the "Men in Black" immediately though. Looks kind of alien to me.............

              Thanks for the info. Had a look on tinterweb. Fascinating creature. Used to have s couple of privet hawk moth caterpillars when I was a kid. Watched them turn into chrysalis then hatch out as moths. Very interesting.

                The lounge gets all the morning sun these two start a long way apart then as the sunny patch gets smaller they are forced to get closer and closer at the point where there is only room for only one the cat being the main protagonist between the two of them wins out. They get on fine together but the poor dog(a little rescue dog we call him Buddy) suffers countless stealth attacks from chairman mao(also a rescue better known as moose)bless him he just looks at the cat and gives it the big yeh what ever whilst the cat does one shouting sucker over its shoulder.Click image for larger version
