    1/35 Das Werk King Tiger.

    Morning folks,

I'm back at the bench and slowly working on my Das Werk King Tiger, here's where I'm at with it...

however I have a few questions,

Just where would the crew stow any personal kit ? unlike the Tiger and the Panther, the King Tiger doesn't have any external stowage bins.
Would it be stowed inside the hull/ turret ? or would they always rely upon a support unit to 'follow' them up with any kit ?

Every image I've seen shows 'clean' king tigers with nothing on the rear engine deck, maybe the odd helmet hanging on the track hanging brackets, but nothing else..
What about cam netting, did the German army use it ? (like the British / allied forces).. or didn't they bother with it ?

    TIA
    Chris

German tankers usually had very little kit stowed on the outside of the vehicle, beyond official stowage and stuff like helmets for when they dismounted. Camouflage was more usually branches and things attached to the vehicle with wire, than camouflage nets draped over the tank.

Regardless of the stowage Chris its looking good. Like the missing track guard and the Zimmerit.

The only German tank regiments I know who stowed their stuff outside were the Afrika Korp...lots of jerricans, netting, and tarps to fend off the desert heat.

          Cheers,
          Richard

That's coming on very nicely indeed. Can't comment on the stowage issue but the others seen to have it covered.

Had a bit of a play with plastic this afternoon, and borrowed (re-purposed) an early diorama I made, I'm thinking of throwing a bit more rubble onto it, and then moving this build forward to the finish line...

              A few pics....so far..

Very nice. Reminds me of that scene in 'A Bridge Too Far' where Sean Connery and co are holed up in the attic of a house.....

No sooner than the Committee here at Race Towers had adjourned for tea after Daves award they saw this, again they all agreed it is suburb, well thought out diorama, plenty of detail and placement.
So you have it Chris, congratulations.Click image for larger version
