Are you printing at home? If so you are probably going to be using an inkjet rather than a laser printer. The ink is water soluble which presents obvious problems with water slide decals! I've tried various acrylic coats to seal the printed work in but have found that Microscale's "liquid decal film" is by far the best solution.

That's what I used for the four numbers (four seperate little decals) of the werknummer on my current 109 build.

It's also handy for saving old decals.

      Cheers

Just another word of warning here.

I've dabbled with printing my own decals (and plan to do a NASCAR auto or two with my own decals) however, if you go for the transparent decal paper there's a high chance of the decal "disappearing" due to the colour of the paint being too dark for the colours you're printing (see my hippie van in the Overhauled group build for examples).

I'm guessing if they were printed on white decal paper it might be different.

It hasn't stopped me though, I'll still be doing my own decals for certain projects.
